I found a slide projector at the Scrap Box in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I grabbed a handful of strangers slides and gathered some friends to view them. We felt like detectives, investigating the narratives of these strangers lives. There was so much story embedded in these images, yet we only had so many clues. We loved the act of coming together to view these images and from this gathering was born the "slide projector poem parties."
Hosting these "slide projector poem parties" looks like: Friends gather, choose a handful of strangers slides, then write for 1 minute per slide. At the end, we share and record ourselves reading the work.
